I have managed to find Chia seed bread. It is really lovely to eat.
I had tonight poached eggs on Chia seed toast
Everyday I have been trying to have one slice with my breakfast
having them this way seemed to be the best, loose over my cereal they managed to stick in my teeth and be difficult to move.
Most I feel must pass through you this way also.
I keep getting samples of Chia Seeds, and have watched videos of how to use them, but I am just one person… how ’bout a recipe with small amounts of ingredients for maybe a smoothie for one, to include the chia seeds. ?? Thanks
Other names for the same plant are perilla and shiso. However, like other plant forms of omega 3, your body needs to convert it into the long-chain form (animal form) before it can use it, and the sources for most plant forms are estrogenic. Is chia/perilla also estrogenic? I don’t know but assume yes. Also, all seeds have built in antinutrients (to promote survival in the plant by poisoning seed-eaters). Does sprouting neutralize these antinutrients? Sometimes. Although even poison is probably OK or even beneficial in small amounts like most things, why take a chance? Feed the chia/perilla to your chickens, on the other hand, and get long-chain Omega 3 eggs with the antinutrients already neutralized by the chickens.
I love Chia seeds. One of the fun way to eat Chia seed is in summer time, I’d pour a cup of coconut milk in a nice dessert bowl. And I’d add a teaspoon of Chia seeds and some dried fruits. You can either leave it in the fridge for an hour or two Or you can freeze it for half an hour. Then there you have it, a very healthy summer dessert.
